Is Bulletproof Coffee Worth It?

Hello my sweet!

I don’t know about you, but I could spend all day in a coffee shop just so I can smell that rich, deep aroma for as long as possible.

I love coffee, but I don’t drink it very often anymore because after I started cleaning up my body with more raw foods, I became really sensitive to the effects that the caffeine had one me. Half a cup of regular coffee would make me as jittery and shaky as if a regular coffee drinker drank half a pot in one sitting.

I missed the taste of it.

So the other day I was told about Bulletproof coffee (or butter coffee to some) and must admit, I was intrigued and a little excited that there is a better way to drink coffee. It has 3 ingredients…coffee (yum), butter (yummy) and coconut oil (yum-o!) that blended together are suppose to feed your brain and shrink your waistline.

Plus once you blend it together and wrap the oil molecules around the coffee molecules, it’s suppose to create a slow release of caffeine effect.

I thought to myself…”Hell, why not?”

Here’s what happened.

Day 1:

I hunted around my small suburb town for the better butter and a better coffee. I found Peet’s Major Dickenson’s Blend coffee at Target and decided to give it a try.

Not my best idea ever.

That coffee was bitter and hard to choke down. Not even the butter and oil could cut through the bitterness. I could only handle half a cup of it. Ugh.

It was later in the day when I tried this and I didn’t get jittery, but I felt like I was on the verge of being jittery. It was a weird place to be. I did like the extra nutrition of the butter and coconut oil though and felt good about that part.

Day 2:

I woke up the next morning with the intent on giving it a solid try earlier in the day. I did. Only this time I used Starbuck’s French Roast Coffee, which is a lot less bitter. I had the same borderline jittery effect, but felt the stable energy for several hours. I did not experience any energy crashes throughout the day.

However…

Later in the evening my husband and I were eating dinner together and I had an emotional melt down.

This rarely happens.

I felt my solid foundation had completely slipped out from underneath me and my confidence was a blubbering mess. My emotional energy was a complete disaster and my balance was totally off. I felt my connection with Source had been cut off and I was blind as to where I was going in life.

I couldn’t even talk to my husband without crying.

Again, this rarely happens.

Once we got home, I went straight to my altar and tub to take a bath to ground myself and regroup with the help of crystal bowl sounds.

This helped some. I felt my energy normalizing, but I still had negative junk going on in my head. Not as much, but enough to affect me. I went to bed early and this morning when I woke up, I remembered how acidic coffee was and knew that the acidic levels had messed with my body chemistry, causing the negative emotional reaction.

Acidic foods raise the body’s acidity, which raises negative thoughts and emotions.

Was it worth it?

No. Not for me anyways.

Today, I’m enjoying a raw chocolate smoothie for breakfast instead and feeling much more normal and happy.
